Whether meeting up with friends or planning a large family get-together, the Alabama Coast is loaded with fun activities all weekend long. Here’s the lowdown on Thanksgiving events you won’t want to miss!

Flora-Bama’s Annual Thanksgiving Potluck

Come for a Bushwacker but stay for a delicious dinner at Flora-Bama. Bring your favorite side dish to share, and they’ll supply the ham and turkey to this family-friendly event that’s free for all. Place your offering in a disposable container and arrive by noon for a festive event sure to get you in the spirit. Serving will commence at 1 pm, service members will be honored before the meal, and veterans are always the first to be served. Alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase during this lovely tradition that celebrates a season filled with sharing and caring.

Thanksgiving Dinner at The Hangout

Known for food, family, and fun, The Hangout is another excellent place to grab your Thanksgiving dinner. Hang out by the fire pit, let the kids play in the sand pile or foam pit, then settle in for some Southern favorites. They’ll serve gumbo, collard greens, and roast beef alongside traditional Thanksgiving fare, including honey-glazed ham, oven-roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and sweet potato casserole. The cost for adults is $32.99, children aged 5-10 pay $14.99, and littles under five eat for free. Bring the whole family and dine in from 11-4.

Coastal Half Marathon, 5K, and 1-Mile Run

Burn those Thanksgiving calories with a bit of exercise, some live music, and a whole lot of fun at the Coastal Half Marathon, 5K, and 1-Mile Run. Take your pick from a half marathon, a 5K, or a 1-mile run in a friendly competition for all skill levels. Beginning at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, participants will walk or run through a scenic backcountry paved trail away from traffic. Traverse through Gulf State Park and the beautiful communities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, taking in the gorgeous weather and picturesque scenery. Restrooms and water stations will be available along the way, and a festive post-race party will be waiting at the end of the course with prizes, live music, a delicious buffet, and beer for those of age.

Events at The Wharf

A fun time for all, The Wharf is a family-friendly entertainment district with shopping, eateries, and nightlife. Featuring one of the area’s largest Ferris wheels and a 15-screen AMC theater, you’ll find plenty to see and do throughout the year. Each November, The Wharf showcases some fun Thanksgiving events you won’t want to miss!

Enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at Ginny Lane Bar and Grill, featuring traditional favorites alongside steak and seafood for a truly festive affair. Black Friday shopping is next on the agenda, then rent ice skates, take a spin around the rink, and follow it up with some delicious hot chocolate. For a great Christmas card photo op, dress the kids in festive attire and let them take a ride on the North Pole Express. If you don’t get all of your Christmas shopping done at The Wharf’s Black Friday event, head over to the Tanger Outlets in Foley, less than 10 miles away. Offering extended hours from 6 am to 9 pm, you’ll have plenty of time to find those last-minute items and maybe a little something for yourself.
