How to Ring in the New Year in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach

December 2, 2022

It’s fireworks, beach balls, and bubbles galore this New Year’s! We’ve rounded up all the ways you can celebrate the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 here in the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area. From family-friendly events to adults-only parties, there’s something for everyone!

Take your pick (or 2!) of how to celebrate the arrival of 2023:

Noon Year’s Eve at LuLu’s

Crafts, kid-safe fireworks (bubble wrap), and a Sand Castle Building Contest are only the tip of the iceberg. When the clock strikes noon, there will be a beach ball drop! Hundreds of colorful beach balls will flood LuLu’s Beach. The excitement doesn’t stop there, though! Face painting, balloon animals, an inflatable slide, and even more will be at LuLu’s Noon Year’s Eve to start your New Year’s celebration off right.

Florabama’s NYE Bash

Flora-Bama is THE place to be on New Year’s Eve! Live music on three stages will be rockin’ until the party stops. Food, party favors, and a midnight champagne toast will undoubtedly contribute to good times as we ring in the New Year, Flora-Bama style! Admission includes a dinner buffet, champagne, party favors, plus surprises all night long! Get more info and buy tickets here. This is a 21+ event.

Reelin’ in the New Year at The Wharf

Say goodbye to 2022 in the grandest style with live bands, family-friendly activities, and adult-centered fun. Start the day with the kiddos at the Kids Confetti Drop at 10 am and round off at midnight with The Park Band, The Marlin Drop, and a fireworks finale!  There’s something for everyone at this end-of-year celebration at The Wharf Orange Beach.

New Year’s Eve at OWA

Family-friendly events abound at OWA. Bubbles and Beats Street Party in Downtown OWA takes place from 2-5 pm. Live entertainment and fireworks will follow at the nighttime Sparks and Sounds party, continuing until 9 pm, with early fireworks at 8:50 pm.

Flora-Bama Polar Bear Dip

This can’t-miss event is an annual gathering of fun on New Year’s Day on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Groups and families gather in costumes, swimsuits, and even wet suits to feel the brisk saltwater on their faces. Take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico at high noon. Those who fully submerge will get a free draft beer and a free New Year’s lunch, including ham, black-eyed peas, greens, and cornbread. Find more info on the event here.

Orange Beach and Gulf Shores have plenty of great restaurants and attractions, but for somewhere new, check out our day trip to Pensacola, FL, guide, or head north instead and visit Fairhope, AL. We have some recommendations on what to do there, too. We can’t wait to see you at one of our beautiful properties here in Coastal Alabama.
